He will lead and establish the new Building Safety Regulator(BSR) within the HSE. This appointment follows on from the recommendations in the Building a Safer Future report by Dame Judith Hackitt.

16/03/2020 Covid-19 Precautions - As a responsible manufacturer and supplier FPCL have taken a number of significant actions to reduce the impact of Covid-19. The wellbeing of our staff, suppliers and customers is our priority. We are introducing serveral safety measures which include the number of staff in our offices, home working and restrictions on meetings and visitors. Although, there are increasing pressures on raw materials, FPCL Group are continuing to operate as close to normal as possible while following government guidelines and protocol. As a result of this, there may be slight delays in our standard delivery times. We would like to advise our customers that FPCL hold significant stocks of fire protective products and will maintain full contact with all our suppliers and customers. 09/01/2020 IFE Level 3 Success. We are pleased to announce that our Sales Director Darren Atkins has successfully passed Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) Level 3 qualification. Currently, this is the only passive fire protection qualification in the UK and Ireland recognised by Ofqual with the Level 3 being the highest obtainable award. FPCL continue to invest in staff training and ensure the highest level of competency.

These products include: IInterchar 1260WB for internal steel fire protection of up to 60 minutes and Interchar 2060C a solvent borne intumescent for external situations for up to 60 minutes. Also available are a range of topsealers including Intersheen 579 Acrylic and Interthane 990 a superior quality finish and Inerfine 691 a high gloss finish. Intergard 251 and 269 primers are also available.
12/06/19 The new Aithon range of Fire Protective Timber Coatings has been received well in the marketplace. FPCL have a calculation programme and can calculate the coating required to achieve a fully tested performance of up to 60 minutes to beams and columns in a structural situation. The PV33 product has been Independently assess to the requirements of ENV 13381-7: 2002 Clause 14. It can also achieve Euro Class B reaction to fire to a wide range of wood and wood derivitives. 01/03/19 AITHON Fire Protective coatings for Timber. FPCL are please to announce that they are now UK Distributors for Aithon timber fire protective coatings products for Timber. AITHON have a fully tested range of products to protect timber to reation to fire and to structural fire protection for joist and beams. The Aithon PV33 product is a varnish giving a clear decorative appearance. It is fully tested on wooden beams, columns, and walls to ENV 13381-7 and EN 13501-2. It also achieves Class B-s1-d0 reaction to fire under ETA 15/0424 and EN 13501-1:2005. The Aithon timber products are now available from stock.

12/1/2018 ASFP Awards Lunch 2017 Success. Th ASFP held its first awards lunch at The Tower of London on 8th December 2017. It raised an impressive £1700 for its nominated charity The Children's Burns Trust. The event was a sell out. The first awards were presented to Hannah Mansell of the British Woodworking Federation who received the PFP Fellowship of the Year Award and Martin Aide of Willimott Dixon Construction who received the ASFP Fellowship Award for their exceptional contributions to the fire industry. www.asfp.org.uk

This new system comes in various sizes and can be used in walls to allow services and cables to travel through fire compartments. 11/04/16 FPCL has announced that it has become a Trade Distributor for Crown Paints. 04/02/16 The Reactafire Project funded by the EU under a FP7 grant is featured in the latest edition of EU Research magazine. This project aims to improve the performance of timber in a fire situation. EU Research is a selected dissemination journal for ReactaFire focusing on pioneering frontier research. It gets published quarterly and distributed throughout 33 countries in Europe to over 50,000 readers. The aim of the journal is to promote research projects to a relevant audience in government, the private sector as well as academia. In turn this will lead to enquiries of interest, global exposure and dissemination for the projects involved. It is hosted online indefinitely, reaching a global web audience. It is read by the key people in national and European governments that control policy and research funding, leading scientific research institutes and major companies across industries in the private sector. 20/01/16 FabBloc 60A is FPCL's fully tested Fire and Insulation Barrier for train flooring decks. It is lightweight and less than 15mm thick and will protect the deck in a fire situation for 60 minutes while insulating and keeping the inside floor of the deck below 250 degrees C. It is easy to install and saves time in the manufacturing process and can be cut or manufactured to suit the design of the deck. FabBloc 60A has been tested to European Standard EN1363-1. 30/9/15 High Temperature Thermal Enclosure
FPCL have successfully completed their testing on a higher temperature thermal enclosure. The enclosure is designed to accommodate an actuator and maintain its running capabilities for 30 minutes in a 600 degree C fire situation. This enables the actuator to continue to open and close a fire damper in a critical fire scenario.

10/10/2013 The FIA has released two free whitepaper guides on the importance of third-party certification for businesses and people purchasing fire safety products or services.
Third-party certification can give customers significantly more confidence in the competence of the suppliers they are looking to use to provide fire safety services or products. This is crucial because the law states that the buyer of a fire safety service has to ensure that the supplier is "competent." FPCL have unveiled their new 2 hour Thermal Actuator Box at the Firex International Show this week which is capable of fire protecting an actuator for 2 hours at 300ºc while maintaining an internal working temperature of below 100ºc. This extensive range of bespoke boxes includes protecting the actuator and the electronics box. This system has been developed over years of hard work and testing using the knowledge of various specialist sectors to achieve the toughest of objectives. 27/03/12 FPCL Kings Cross New Concourse Design Praised on the BBC
The new concourse at Kings Cross Station which was painted by Fire Protection Solutions Limited was featured on the BBC news. The concourse which has an elaborate steel structure that looks like a spiders web in appearance was praised for it's innovation on a news feature which showed the history of Kings Cross Station and an amazing time laps film of the construction process. Fire Protection Solutions Limited were involved in coating the steel with it's clean white finish over an 8 month period last year. Technical Director John Molloy who project managed the coating system said ''it was a challenging project to coat but the finish looks superb and adds to the exceptional appearance of the station". 01/10/2010 Anthony Barlow, Business Development Consultant retired from FPCL on 30th September 2010 after 8 years invaluable service within the Aerospace, Transportation and Defence Industries. He was presented with a large model aircraft as a memento.
24/09/2010 The ASFP announced that there will be a 'fire village' consisting of member companies at the International Fire Expo 2011 which will be held at the NEC, Birmingham. This is one of the largest international exhibitions to take place for several years for the fire industry and is linked to various health and safety exhibitions being held at the same time. This exhibition is a must for the diaries for next year.
10/07/2010 The new mortar based product for structural steel, VermiplasterBD has successfully achieved its Third Party Accreditation and is now featured in the ASFP Yellow Book and can be viewed on their new website (Please see links). 12/5/09 FPCL WORKING WITH THE ENEMY- The FabFire Flame Retardant spray team were called into action to spray a black cotton fabric stage set for the indie band The Enemy to provide flame retardancy. This great new band will be supporting Oasis this summer iat the Recoh Stadium in Coventry.

19/11/07 FPCL at the prestigious LORD STAFFORD AWARDS at Birminghams NEC were runners up in the Impact Through Innovasion catagory for the callaboration with The University of Wolverhampton on their new De-Icer product and received a Highly Commended Certificate. This product is designed to prevent the transfer of heat to the electronic actuator operating the de-icer equipment reducing the outside temperature from 300 degrees C down to 100 degrees C. This is a considerable achievement given the stiff competition across the whole of the West Midlands.
7/11/07 A new range of products FabShield IPW has been launched by FPCL. These products are designed to protection timber and provide spread of flame in a fire situation. The products can be applied in our Coventry Workshops or can be supplied from stock. Approved applicators are available to undertake on site work to the customers requirements if required.
5/11/07 FPCL has appointed Darren Atkins as their new Sales Manager. He will be responsible for sales of specialist fire protective products throughout the UK.
31/10/07 FPCL has successfully tested its FabFire flame retardant on corrigated cardboard paper to provide flame retardancy.
10/9/07 FPCL has successfully reached the final stage of the prestigeous Lord Stafford Awards for Innovation and Collaboration. The product designed by FPCL being considered, provides vital protection to temperature extremes on actuators on aircraft, keeping them operable and extending the period of maintenance required.
30/8/07 An order to provide fire protection to a fuel barrier has been received by FPCL. Following extensive testing and trails a solution was developed. FPCL will provide the application for a major UK aerospace company using the latest epoxy technology given low smoke and toxcicity.
14/7/07 Following the AGM of the ASFP in Tewkesbury it was announced that Wilf Butcher will take over as Chief Executive from Graham Ellicott.
10/7/07 FPCL recently assisted in the fire retardancy of the fabrics for the Bollywood Awards in Sheffield. The fabrics were protected with FabFire F2 and formed a backdrop for the eighth International Indian Film Acadamy Award ceremony.

10/11/06 Fire Safety regulations finally changed in October. The new regulations affect all non-domestic premises in England and Wales. They will replace fire certificates which were previously issued by the Fire Services and will no longer be applicable. The new system is based on Risk Assessment which should be carried out by a responsible person and is the responsibility of the premises owner. This competent person can be a member of your staff if they are capable of handling this. Fire precautions within the building should be addressed and risks concerning flammable substances should be specifically addressed and a written plan drawn up. This is a requirement of the regulations but may also be sort by your insurers. There are a number of professionals specialising in undertaking Risk Assessments.
20/10/06 Fire Safety 'Keep it in the Box' is a new series of seminars organised by the ASFP in conjunction with the Association of Building Engineers. It deals with structural and compartmentation issues and how to contain fire to its room of origin. The seminars are to be held: 11 Dec 2006 York, 26 January 2007 Preston, 23 February 2007 Bournemouth.

2/8/06 The ASFP are running a series of interesting seminars entitled ' Fire Safety-Keep it in the Box'. These seminars will be looking at structural and compartmentation issues associated with fire containment within buildings. the dates for these seminars are as follows; 11th December in York, 26th January 2007 in Preston and 23rd February in Bournemouth. 9/6/06 One of the highlights this summer was the Chelsea Flower Show. FPCL were very pleased to be of assistance to the Royal Horticultural Society-Rosemoor. FPCL provided it's FabFire flame retardant for use on their highly acclaimed gold medal standard exhibit. The product was applied to the underside of a thatched construction which provided an excellant focal point within the display.

12/6/05 Peers have approved the Regulatory Reform(Fire Safety) Order, reports the ASFP. Introducing the regulation, ODPM Minister Baroness Andrews explained that it would place the responsibility for ensuring that fire safety regulations were complied with on the person responsible for the premises.
2/6/05 FPCL has expanded it's operation in Coventry and has appointed a new Production Manager, Stuart Atkins and 5 more production personnel. This forms part of a new production line following a new contract to produce specialist fire protection for oil actuating systems.
